inches or 260 mm rear wheel travel (stock was about 6.2")
achieved through DH Dave's custom made rear shock plates and the
Manitou SPV longer travel air/ oil/ coil shock

Fox
40 29 incher front downhill fork about 8 inches travel), triple
clamp with DH Dave's custom made 6061 aircraft aluminum direct
mount stem and White Brothers titanium downhill riser handlebar.
In addition, as this Norco frame has such a tall head tube I had
to get a Risse Racing drop top crown that drops the top Fox fork
crown about 27mm. This was needed so that the 27.5 inch Michelin
2.8 inch width tire would not hit the lower fork crown.

Bafang
750 Watt, 51 Volt mid-mounted electric ebike conversion kit -
complete with 20 Amp hour 51 Volt lithium ion battery, Bafang
deluxe digital display with speedo/ battery level and level of
assist indicator, Bafang handlebar controls and left hand 1/2
twist throttle. This motor kit is designed as "electric pedal
assist" meaning it is designed to be used while pedalling
with the ability to custom program how much electric assist occurs
at each of the 10 power settings accessed through the handlebar
control. I also added an optional twist throttle for demonstration
purposes. The kit also comes with a headlight - which you can
see mounted on the Womens
ebike page.
This electric kit is designed to be street legal and automatically
cuts power at about 35 km/h. It can be custom programmed with
special hardware and software to remove the governor.
I chose the mid-mounted motor design for two main reasons: so
that I could use the Rohloff 14 speed transmission hub and because
it really centers the weight on the ebike.
-
Rohloff
Speedhhub - 14 speed internal tarnsmission gear hub that is the
equivalent of any regular 27 speed mountain bike drivetrain. You
change gears through a single Grip Shifter. There are a huge number
of advantages of the Rohloff Speedhub including:
- Shift one
to 14 gears while standing still without pedalling. This is
great if you are in the middle of a technical section or at
the lip of a drop and find yourself in the wrong gear.
- Perfect chainline
all the time.
- Extremely
durable - many riders have recorded over 10,000 miles before
needing a rebuild.
- No huge weight
penalty - overall, the Rohloff Speedhub adds about 2.5 pounds
over a conventional derailluer 27 speed drivetrain.
- The slightly
heavier rear hub helps me when jumping or doing drops and
naturally helps to keep the front of the bike up while airborne.
- No derailleur
hanging down to get caught up on rocks or roots. In fact,
even if you do bend the shorty chain tensioner, you will still
be easily able to ride.
- High spoke
flanges ensure a strong wheelbuild.
- Many options
available including regular 135mm quick release to 150mm thru
axle hubs - all disc brake compatible but you will need a
special 4 bolt disc brake rotor.

for this tire!). Both wheels use Maxxis Freeride tubes.

Total
bike weight: A hair under 60 pounds. I estimate the weight of
the battery and motor system to be just over 20 pounds so the
base bike would be a little under 40 pounds.
